What is it, anyway?
When someone who has never been to the Marine Dealer Conference & Expo asks us what it’s all about, there’s a lot of answers to that question. But the most important answers, if you ask us, come from the dealers who attend.
For some of them, it’s about the education. First-class, hands-on education specifically for marine dealers. You can choose from more than 30 educational courses taught by experts from across the industry and around the world in four core categories – Leadership, Sales, Marketing and Service Plus.
Given how diverse our attendees are, we rate these courses as Fundamental, Intermediate or Advanced. We want to help you choose the courses that best fit your experience and your goals.
Then, we ask every single speaker who joins the MDCE family to prepare takeaways for each of their sessions that help you take what you learn and bring it back to your team. Those takeaways, audio recordings of the sessions and copies of the PowerPoints are available to attendees for (free) download so that you have everything you need to put what you learned to work when you return to the dealership. And if that isn’t enough, we also sell video recordings of them.
For others, MDCE is about the chance to talk to other dealers about what’s working and not working back at the business. We give you lots of opportunities for that. Some are in informal settings, like our many networking receptions, Game Night and the Young Professionals Community event.
Others are more formal. Take, for instance, our ALL NEW Dealer Case Studies – where dealers will share a best practice they’ve successfully adopted in their business. Or our ALL NEW Dealer Roundtable Discussions, where dealers can choose a table featuring a topic that they’re working on in their business – let’s say, technician compensation. Everyone at that table will share their challenges and their strategies for success. And with leading dealers across the country in attendance, you’re sure to learn a lot from each other.
Still others tell us it’s all about the exhibitors and their products. And it should be. We have many of the leading boat and watercraft builders, engine manufacturers, lenders, dealer management system providers, consultants, service providers … the list goes on and on. With more than 100 exhibitors, there are lots of opportunities to connect and do business with those companies who come out to support dealership excellence at MDCE.
For most people, the motivation to attend the show is a combination of all three. When you step back, you can see that MDCE provides hundreds of opportunities to improve and grow your businesses, which helps us build a stronger boating industry.
That’s our two cents, but more importantly, here is what dealers say they get out of the event, in their own words:
